It makes very little sense. I have prepared myself for that, but I don't understand why our base elementary school option is a year round while the middle school is a traditional. I have no issue with a split calendar schedule for my trailing elementary school child as it allows us to minimize disruption for that student.

You would think student assignment would be within a certain radius of the school. That would seem to be a better plan in the long term. This will ease pressure on busses and car pool lanes.
